Chris Powley is singer, dancer and entertainer from Rotorua. The 39-year-old started out at age nine, singing for the famous Lou and Simon show in 1986. Powley has a remarkable vocal range and sings in many genres, including rock ‘n’ roll and classic soul. He has performed with Andrea Bocelli, Sir Howard Morrison, John Rowles, Leo Sayer, Bonnie Tyler, Michael Barrymore, Dame Malvina Major, The Topp Twins. He has toured extensively throughout the world, showcasing his talents with international shipping lines.
He was awarded the New Zealand Scroll of Honour for his years of dedication and contribution to the entertainment industry, and in 2008 he received the NZ Comedy Award and Top Male Vocalist Award.
He’s a member of the Howie Morrison Jnr Showband, but is working with Waatea Music to focus on his solo career. His easy listening single, E Ipo, was first performed by Prince Tui Teka in 1982.
